Scattered

Doc and I just celebrated Cinco de Mayo with frozen pizza and margaritas. Right before dinner we finished painting the three adirondack chairs that sit on our balcony (glad that's done) and are now settled in on the couch watching Glee. Here's a little something from every corner of my head today.

I have the best husband in the world. We're quickly approaching our first anniversary (the paper year) and he surprised me Monday evening with a paper itinerary for the weekend. We're going to New York!! I had no idea. What a great surprise! We've got dinner reservations and tickets to see Wicked. The rest of the time we're just gonna go with the flow and do whatever we want!

Do you know about TOMS shoes? They're the one-for-one shoes. For every pair of shoes purchased, a child in need gets a pair too.  So, definitely a good cause, but they're also some of the most comfortable shoes ever! I currently own three pairs and love them all. I have had my eye on another style to add to my collection but they've been out of stock. Well, today, they were back in stock!  These sweet kicks have been purchased and will hopefully arrive on my doorstep soon!

P.S. If you don't own any TOMS shoes yet, you should head on over to their website and order a pair. Trust me.

Remember the new door that was supposed to be installed on Monday? Yea, it's still not here. We're starting to get impatient. Needless to say, the before and after pictures of our house will have to be postponed until hopefully no later than next week.

I watched this video a couple of days ago and it made me laugh a lot. It also made me kind of want a corgi. Enjoy!

Cubby Shelf Bookcase

This weekend it rained and rained and rained. And then it rained some more. Luckily, we had already purchased some lumber from Lowe's a few weeks ago and had a shop project that was just waiting around for a rainy day.

My mom wants to replace the changing table in her playroom with a shelf that can hold toys, so we told her we could whip something up! I found the plans for the perfect shelf online and we altered them to fit the canvas bins she had already purchased. The plans were super easy to follow; we made all of our cuts first and then just had to assemble.

Here she is midway.

The plan called for a back out of MDF, but since the shelf was already getting pretty heavy, we decided to use some beaded board we already had.

And here is how she looks with her lime green baskets.

Now I just have to find time to paint 'er up real purty. Anyone else out there need a cubby shelf bookcase?

I can't forget to mention that we had a couple of visitors stop by and check on our work.

The pups were pretty tired of the rain too so they joined us in the shop.

And occasionally ol' Henry would wander out onto the porch to watch the rain from his chair.

He has such a hard life...

Bunco Night

Last Monday night was my turn to host my bunco group.

We started off the evening with fresh fruit sangritas and appetizers.

After a yummy dinner of Paula Dean's cannelloni and Olive Garden salad, we rang the bell and it was time to roll!

Because we only had nine people show up, I decided to sit out so we could have two full tables of four each. Of course, I wouldn't be able to win any money, but I couldn't lose it either. Everyone else was excited to play!

Well, everyone except for Allison, maybe...

I think my favorite part of the evening was dessert. I don't know about everyone else, but I thought it was delicious!  Chocolate cups with a scoop of white chocolate mousse, milk chocolate mousse, raspberries, strawberries, and whipped cream...mmmm!

I love this group of girls and look forward to bunco night every month.  The night's always full of catching up, gossiping, and LOTS of laughter.

The hardest part of it all is having to wait four weeks to get to do it again.

They say it's your birthday...

Today is my brother's 29th birthday.

Happy birthday, Ben!!

Unfortunately for him it's raining like crazy today and I just heard from my mom that he's got four feet of water in his basement. Probably not the present he was hoping for.

Brother, here's hoping your last year in your twenties is awesome, because after this, you're ooooooold.

The NB Diaries: Chapter 5

Remember the email I received back in Chapter 3? The email that said I should consider my answer carefully before deciding which character from Office Space NB resembles the most? Well, I kinda forgot about the email. She sent it on a Saturday afternoon but I didn't see it until last Monday morning. If you'll remember, my coworker that can quote all of the movie was out of town for the week. Because I thought my job could be on the line, I decided I would wait on him to return so he could help me decide on the best character. But then I forgot about the email.

My coworker has been back at work since last Monday and I completely forgot about the email until yesterday (Thursday). And do you know the only reason I remembered it? Because Coworker was in NB's office and she told him she was mad at me for not responding to her email! She even pulled the email up for him to see. How could I have forgotten to show him?!?!

So he and I put our heads together and decided which character she is the most like.

So, not really a very exciting response and I still have my job, so maybe it wasn't worth worrying over. She did include all of her personal information - including another email address - at the end of the email, which is weird in itself, but here's the real interesting part...

We're neighbors!
